Are You Counting Your Blessings?

We have been in business 25 years this Christmas. And despite the ups and downs of the market during those years, every year at this time, we count our blessings.

 

There have been many.

 

The wealth we feel this time of year is a result of the relationships we have fostered over the years—with our clients, the contractors we work with, and the Portland RE/MAX real estate community.

 

Twenty-five years ago, when we first started out in real estate, iPhones didn’t exist. Michael wore a pager and every time he got a page, he had to go hunting for a pay phone.

 

We’ve come a long way, baby.

 

But what hasn’t changed in those 25 years is our commitment to operate with integrity, and to create ease for our clients as they maneuver the often-emotional real estate process.

 

To make sure we are on-track with our commitment to our customers, we often ask them for feedback. This year, as in the past, they assured us we were doing our job.

Whenever I called Michael, for any reason, he was quick with an answer or called me back with an answer in short time. We never had to ask Michael twice. He went above and beyond his obligation to insure a smooth sell with as little stress on us as possible. [He] insured we were informed every step of the way, [and] … even provided boxes.

We started offering packing boxes as a way to assist our sellers to get their houses ready for us to market, and their thoughts ready to handle the stress of a house move.

 

Moving is one of the most stressful events in one’s life. We personally have moved multiple times over our 28 years together, including two major moves from one state to another. We understand the process.

 

That’s why we try to make the process as easy as possible for our clients. The boxes are delivered to your front door and are easy to assemble. They enable you to pack as you declutter the house.

 

We work as a team; our skills are complementary. This works well for our customers.

Michael and Michele split their duties in such a way that we always felt connected to them…. They scheduled a staging consultation, pricing and sales strategy sessions and showings with our calendar and personal appointments in mind.
Michael walks through each house with me to discuss what we should do to prepare for the sale, and provides information on capable contractors and introductions for getting the work done. Michele has recommended bathroom remodel options and has even showed me how to clean my permanent furnace filters.

Some agents are transactional, that is, they make one real estate sale and are done. That’s not how we operate. We build relationships that last for years. Our names are passed on to other family members and we build relationships with them. Trust. That’s what it’s all about to us.

This post is a “thank you” to all those we have gotten to know over the years and who have made our real estate business—and our lives—just a little bit richer.
